9 – 12:00 pm
Start your adventure at the Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County, in Moorhead, by reliving the journey of the Viking ship “Hjemkomst”(Yem-komst) as it sailed from Minnesota to Norway. Learn about the voyage, including the storm 500 miles from New York that caused a crack in the hull nearly 14 feet long that almost led the crew to head back to North America. See how the crew lived during the 72-day voyage. While you are there, walk through the Norwegian Stave Church, a replica of the Hopperstad Stave Church in Vik, Norway.
12 – 2:00 pm
Continue your adventure to Fargo for a walking/driving tour of the newly revitalized downtown. Step into Barbara’s 1st & Deli for a great meal and European dessert. Take a stroll across the street to the renovated Hotel Donaldson and enjoy their unique collection of art, and make your way to Zandbroz Variety for a unique shopping experience. Don’t forget to stop at Antiques on Broadway to browse through their various items too.
2 – 2:30 pm
Check into the Settle Inn & Suites, conveniently located just south of
I-94. They are in the heart of the business, shopping and restaurant district and a quick and easy drive to and from anywhere in the
2:30 – 6:30 pm
Located adjacent to the hotel is the Red River Zoo. Spend the rest of the afternoon by taking a ride on the restored antique carousel and enjoying its outstanding living collection. The zoo includes exotic and native animals and plants plus specializes in rare and endangered species.
6:30 – 9:00 pm
To complete your day, enjoy a first-run film or international film at the Historic Fargo Theatre. Here you will enjoy some of your favorite hits as its screen still blends gems from the past – from the silent films to the contemporary classics.
8 – 12:00 pm
Start your day right with the hotel’s complimentary deluxe “Kick Start” Breakfast Buffet serving hot and cold food items. Board the motorcoach and travel west to Casselton to the Maple River Winery for a sample and a tour of the winery. The fruit for the wine is grown primarily in North Dakota. There is no charge to tour their winery. The wine sampling afterwards is also free! Don’t forget to stop at the Maple River Distillery to sample their North Dakota handcrafted spirits. Stop at the gift shop while you sample some of their brandy, cordials and vodkas.
12 – 1:00 pm
Before you head for home, stop for lunch at the local Pizza Ranch. Home to the Mile-Long™ Buffet, The Pizza Lover’s Pizza ®, The Country’s Best Chicken ® and Cactus Bread ® Dessert Pizza! Delicious!!
