Start the day at the Galena Canning Company. This shop features award-winning Chef Ivo’s old-fashioned jams, jellies, salsas, BBQ sauces, a Hot Sauce Emporium, baked goods and much more! A tasting table lets you sample before you buy.
11 – 12:00 pm
Visit the “Bead Divas” of this popular shop, Galena Beads. Theyoffer an amazing selection of “made in Galena” bead jewelry and jewelry making supplies, along with walk-in workshops.
12 – 1:00 pm
Jo Daviess County has a wide array of dining options. Whether you’re craving international fare, comfort food, fast food or home-cooked local favorites, you are sure to find it!
1 – 1:30 pm
Stop for dessert at Galena’s Kandy Kitchen, established in 1974, this local favorite continues a family tradition of producing small batches of fine handmade confections and fudge.
1:30 – 2:30 pm
Truly experience the essence of Galena Cellars Vineyard & Winery, as you take in the spectacular view of their country vineyard and see how their wines are made.
2:30 – 4:00 pm
Wander through the West Street Sculpture Park. This outdoor gallery of large steel sculptures by award-winning local artist John Martinson is a site not to be missed!
4 – 5:00 pm
Check into an area hotel and take some time to freshen up.
5 – 6:00 pm
Relax with a cocktail and flaming saganaki in the piano bar of this family-owned Greek steakhouse, Cocktails at the Log Cabin. OPA!!!
6 – 7:00 pm
For dinner choose from the areas wide array of specialties including Chicago-style pizza, fresh seafood and authentic ethnic cuisine, from Mexican and Italian to Greek… all so tempting!
Enjoy lounge-style live entertainment as you indulge in some spirits, plus trivia contests run by the owner; Miss Kitty, at The Grape Escape.
10 – 12:00 pm
Experience a bountiful Sunday brunch buffet with panoramic views of the mighty Mississippi River and valley at Timmerman’s Supper Club in East Dubuque.
12 – 1:30 pm
When your bellies are full, head over to Hanover Antiques, “It’s not your usual antiques shop.” This shop offers everything from a 1950s kitchen to a funeral room to tchotchkes (trinkets) galore.
1:30 – 3:00 pm
Tour the Apple River Fort State Historic Site in Elizabeth. This reconstructed fort describes the area’s Native Americans, its early settlers and the Black Hawk War of 1832 and features seasonal “living history” events.
Before you head for home make a stop at Nature’s Treasures in Woodbine. This eclectic shop offers wonderful gifts and birdhouses by local artists and specializes in organic gardening supplies, fountains, wind chimes and metaphysical crystals.
